Engineering Manager - Platform Services

Salesforce Data Cloud is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a Platform Services backend team. In this role, you will guide a team of skilled backend engineers to develop and scale the microservices that power Zoomin’s knowledge platform, enabling organizations to unify, govern, and activate enterprise knowledge from various third-party systems in a single, seamless solution.

As an Engineering Manager, You will define and drive the team’s vision and goals, aligning them with our mission to integrate unstructured data from diverse systems into a unified, AI-ready knowledge graph within Salesforce Data Cloud. You will oversee core platform services such as search, indexing, and content delivery, ensuring these services scale to meet evolving business and technical demands. You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Lead Engineers, and cross-functional partners to build a clear and achievable roadmap, proactively identifying dependencies and risks to efficiently meet goals. You’ll be instrumental in managing team performance by setting clear objectives, providing constructive feedback, and fostering growth opportunities for engineers.

Your Impact:

  • Defining, evolving, and communicating the team’s vision, mission, and strategy across Data Cloud.

  • Collaborating with Product and technical leaders to build a roadmap for your team and growing the team to complete that roadmap.

  • Delivering team goals in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Implementing effective engineering processes and policies.

What You Should Have

  • 5+ years of software engineering work experience, including management and hands-on technical management building backend services.

  • You are strong in balancing priorities and making thoughtful decisions to meet immediate technical needs.

  • You are able to participate in architecture and product discussions with engineers, contributing to informed decisions.

  • You have a proven track record of shipping quality products on time.

  • You are highly organized and thrive in fast-paced environments with a structured approach to team operations.

  • You can provide objective feedback, supporting individual and team growth.

  • You actively work with Product Management and other teams to align on project vision and execution.

  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)
