How is Salesforce Making AI More Sustainable & Equitable

Our sustainable AI strategy focuses on minimizing the environmental impact of AI by optimizing models, training them in low-carbon data centers, and leveraging energy-efficient hardware. We implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to enhance model performance – delivering faster, more accurate, and resource-efficient responses while reducing energy consumption. Salesforce’s industry-leading Sustainable AI Policy Principles provide clear guidelines for managing and mitigating AI’s environmental footprint, driving responsible innovation and greater efficiency across the industry.

We also bring innovation and technology access in the nonprofit sector through our Salesforce Accelerator – AI for Impact. How? By equipping nonprofits with AI-powered solutions to address climate mitigation and adaptation, for example, and providing organizations with resources, investments, pro bono consulting, and technology. This positions Salesforce as a leader in the tech industry, setting clear policies to guide and advocate for responsible AI development for our company and our ecosystem of ecopreneurs, partners, and customers.

Slack’s Evolution Into an Agentic Work Operating System 

At Salesforce, we deeply study work, what engages employees, and what drives productivity. We’ve found that we need a new way of working – one that helps teams get more out of the tech they currently have, provides a connected, central space for humans and AI to work together, and prepares desk workers for agent-powered work. To achieve that goal, we released new innovations – Agentforce in Slack, Slack AI, and lists – to evolve Slack into the only work operating system designed to move business forward. Now every team can bring AI, agents, team collaboration, and their unique business processes into the context of Slack so they can work faster and smarter.

Agentforce in Slack gives employees context-aware digital teammates that help streamline tasks, provide timely information, and enhance collaboration. Customers are already harnessing agentic AI right in Slack, turning agents into teammates right in the flow of work! And with Slack AI, tapping into the rich collective knowledge shared in Slack is seamless, easing the cognitive load so employees can stay ahead of the work day. In just the first six months of Slack AI’s launch in 2024, customers summarized more than 600 million messages, saving users a collective 1.1 million hours.* Finally, the introduction of Slack lists brought modern project management directly into the place that people want to work together. Now, instead of purchasing a new project management tool that keeps information, conversations, and teams separate and siloed, teams can bring everything and everyone they need to manage work together.
