Engineer the Future of Mexico City as a Salesforce Developer

Salesforce Careers

July 11, 2024

Mexico City is known for a lot of things: vibrant culture, world-class cuisine — and a rapidly expanding technology sector. That includes Salesforce Mexico, where we’re growing our talented technology team in the Chief Information Officer (CIO) Organization.

Interested in building the future of technology — and building your own future career? Then discover our open opportunities in Salesforce Mexico.

Zeroing in on Customer Zero

At Salesforce, we call ourselves Customer Zero: meaning we use our own technology internally to drive employees’ productivity and innovation. At the heart of that effort is our CIO Organization, a team dedicated to developing and modernizing Salesforce systems for our employees.

“In our internal technology organization, we are uniquely positioned to drive innovation and help Salesforce grow and scale with cutting-edge technology, including the deployment of AI across the enterprise," shared Salesforce Chief Information Officer and proud Mexican-American, Juan Perez. “Working closely with our business partners, we build the technology solutions that Salesforce needs to deliver amazing customer success in a rapidly changing environment. After 34 years in IT, I can confidently say this is the most exciting time to work in business technology!”

It’s no small task – which is why it’s expanding around the globe. Next stop? Mexico City, a bustling (and growing!) hub in the heart of Latin America.

Building a Global Team in the Heart of Mexico

Sam Wingo, Senior Director of Operational Excellence Programs, is helping to build out this new team and is now recruiting a team of all-star developers to join in Mexico City.

It’s the latest stop on his own Salesforce career journey, which started 11 years ago in Indianapolis. In that time, Sam has led Scrum teams, managed delivery of key initiatives for Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and even helped support technology integrations from Mergers & Acquisitions. But, he credits this most recent journey in the heart of Mexico City to being one of the most exciting of his career.

“Salesforce provides you with the opportunity to stretch and grow, challenge yourself, use new technology, do what you enjoy, and be rewarded for it,” shared Sam. “I get to experience that every day, and never more so than the time I’ve spent in Mexico City. It’s been amazing for me to open new doors in my career.”

Opening Your Career Door in Mexico City

For those looking to jumpstart a career at Salesforce, Sam is looking to hire skilled technical talent to enhance a series of projects and processes within the Salesforce CIO Org.

“We are working on modernizing our systems and enhancing everything we do — using our own tools, which are best in class.” A few recent examples of projects include Einstein in Slack — an AI-powered Slack application – and Project BaseCamp, a digital workspace powered by Salesforce Experience Cloud for Salesforce employees to seek support, log tickets, and more.

For Rehan Ellahi, Sr. Manager, Business Technology Strategy & Operations, being in Mexico City presents an exciting opportunity for employees to build Salesforce technology from the ground up. “As part of this team, new hires will be helping build tech solutions and implementing Salesforce products internally, working to scale, grow, and improve efficiency.”

Seeking Top Talent in Mexico City

Of course, while technical talent is a must for these positions – Salesforce-specific expertise is not. (So, if you’re only familiar with Java or Fullstack, read on!) In fact, the team is focused on re-skilling and up-skilling developers in Salesforce technology through a specialized onboarding process.

“We are intentional about developing talent and up-skilling from object-oriented program languages to the force.com platform,” shared Rehan. “For instance, we’re working with the training team to build a development program for people with Java skills to be able to apply them to the platform.”

At the heart of that training team is Latifa Seini, Training Manager - Sr. Analyst, who is helping to build out unique onboarding specific to these roles. The training will be two-part, including in-person, instructor-led onboarding, as well as a hybrid bootcamp specific to the force.com platform. This will allow new hires to connect with everyone in the office and learn Salesforce technology inside-and-out. New hires are also paired with a mentor to ensure they’re set up for success from the start.

As for what else makes a candidate a good fit for this role? “On top of having the technical skill set, it’s about the ability to learn. We hire people who want to learn and grow, and Mexico City has amazing engineer and developer talent!” Latifa says.
