Life as a Salesforce Intern

As I reflect on my journey from Day 1 to nearly Day 60 as part of the Futureforce Batch of 2022, the one thing I can definitely say is that Life as a Salesforce Intern is an incredibly rewarding and learning experience.
Life as an Intern starts before your actual Day 1 through regular Recruiter Connects with the dedicated Futureforce team. In the first call, they welcomed us into the Salesforce family and (as a big Disney fan) I still remember my very first thought, - ‘Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten’. True to their word, Salesforce adheres to this with a wonderfully crafted internship program that ensures that you get the whole Salesforce experience in your time here.
The Internship Experience
You will be given an opportunity to explore a problem space with a fresh perspective and come up with innovative solutions. To ensure that your project has a tangible outcome, each intern is tasked with creating their own V2MOM by the end of your second week. The V2MOM is a goal setting framework used to log and track progress towards measurable goals. This process gives interns an insight into the way Salesforce operates and also ensures that the project is goal-oriented.
You will work closely with your manager, a dedicated mentor/buddy from your team and any other stakeholders that may be involved with your project space. As a Product Management Intern, I interacted with multiple stakeholders including the engineering team, and end-users of the tool I was tasked with enhancing. The work will be challenging, but you will be given ownership of the complete project and freedom to explore avenues with room to learn and contribute to actual problems. Your project is what you make of it and you will be given all the support you need to make it a success.
The Office Experience
Our Futureforce batch was lucky since 2022 marked the return of offline internships for Salesforce. The company gave all interns the option of Office-Flex which meant they could work from the office a few days every week (the recommended was two days a week).
I was reporting to the Hyderabad office but made it a point to go almost every day. This gave me an opportunity to meet my manager, team members and other interns. It allowed me to maximize my internship experience and gave me a first-hand look at the Salesforce culture in action.
The Futureforce Experience
Apart from the work, there were dedicated Futureforce events aimed at providing interns a glimpse of life at Salesforce. From informative Know Your Business sessions to learning about different verticals, to Leadership Connects with senior management - we were given multiple opportunities to engage with different Salesforce departments to gain a better understanding of the organisation.
But it was not all work and no play. There were also fun bonding sessions including a DJ party on Day 1, activities, social media challenges, team lunches, intern dinners, pool, FIFA or table tennis at The Social Lounge, networking opportunities and much more.
My one takeaway is that even Life as a Salesforce Intern actually lets you be part of the Salesforce community, even if you’re only there for a short time.
