Sr. Technical Architect – Data Architecture & Master Data Management

Summary

The Sr. Technical Architect – Data plays a critical role within Salesforce’s Enterprise Architecture team, leading the design and implementation of enterprise-grade Master Data Management (MDM) solutions and broader data architecture strategies. This position is responsible for architecting scalable solutions across data platforms, integration, analytics, governance, and automation.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in data architecture, MDM, and Salesforce ecosystem knowledge, combined with strong soft skills, stakeholder engagement, and technical writing ability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape the future of our data ecosystem and enable data excellence at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Architecture: Design and maintain comprehensive enterprise data architecture aligned to business goals and North Star architecture.

  • MDM Enablement: Lead MDM architecture for key domains (e.g., customer, product, vendor, employee, finance, legal entities, reference data).

  • Integration & Processing: Architect enterprise-scale data integration and movement solutions (ETL/ELT/pipelines), ensuring seamless, real-time data flow across systems.

  • Data Modeling: Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models; define metadata, lineage, and dictionaries.

  • Analytics Support: Collaborate with analytics and reporting teams to ensure data readiness for advanced analytics, reporting, and AI/ML initiatives.

  • Data Governance: Implement governance frameworks to uphold data quality, compliance, privacy, and security standards.

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute data strategies in alignment with enterprise business architecture and capabilities.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work cross-functionally across IT, Finance, HR, Legal, Risk, and other functions to deliver aligned and trusted data solutions.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain high-quality architecture blueprints, design documents, standards, and technical guidelines.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years in data architecture, with at least 8+ years in MDM solution design and delivery.

  • Deep knowledge of MDM concepts: data domains, survivorship, matching/merging, golden record creation, stewardship, and hierarchy management.

  • Experience with tools such as Informatica MDM, Salesforce Data Cloud, or similar enterprise MDM platforms.

  • Proven expertise in ETL/ELT and data integration tools (e.g., MuleSoft, IICS, Kafka, Airflow, Spark, dbt, Iceberg, Trino, AWS MSK).

  • Strong knowledge of enterprise data warehouse and data hub concepts.

  • Expertise in data modeling using tools like ERWin, and strong understanding of metadata and lineage.

  • Strong background in Salesforce Products and functional domains such as IT, Finance, HR, Legal, Security, and Risk Management.

  • Experience in executing data strategies, assessments, and proof-of-concepts.

  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and practices.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.

  • Strong technical writing and documentation ability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Demonstrated experience as a Senior Data Architect, MDM Architect, or equivalent.

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence senior stakeholders across business and IT.
